Obituary of Russel Merrifield
It is with profound sadness that the family of Russel Merrifield announce his peaceful passing at home on January 7, 2022 at the age of 67 years.
Russel was born on October 8, 1954 in Montreal, QC to Betty and Leslie Merrifield. At the age of 12, Russel moved to a farm on Jellyby Road and there began his lifelong love of farming. Russel purchased his ownfarm in 1976 and began his career as a Millwright at the Addison Feed Mill, where he worked for 42 years. Always a man with something on the go, Russel, alongside his family, raised pigs, chickens, turkeys, and later cows, produced maple syrup, cut and delivered firewood, and provided custom farm work for area farmers.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy; children: Samantha (Samuel), Ryan (Monica), and Adam (Erin); grandchildren: Liam, Micah, Charlotte, Emberly, Fiona, Thomas, Maria, and Jakob; sisters, Joan (Cathy Welch) and Nancy (Tom Sones) of British Columbia, and Lesley (Greg Weir) of Ottawa; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Russel is predeceased by his parents, Betty and Leslie Merrifield.
Due to COVID there will be a graveside service only held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11am at Greenbank Cemetery, 10562-10598 McManus Rd, North Augusta.
Donations in Russel’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Ontario, Palliative Care Program at Brockville General Hospital, or charity of your choice.
