Obituary for Roland George Buczel

Roland "Rolly" Buczel passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2023, at home, with his loving wife Anne by his side. He was born in Stuttgart, Germany, to his mother, Helga, and shortly after emigrated to Canada, growing up in Wawa, Ontario.

Rolly had a smile that reached his eyes and was infectious to all those around. He was always ready to tell a story, beat you at euchre or crib, and could often be found wandering the yard, puttering to no end. He lived for his family and friends and was loved by all.

Rolly would tell anyone who listened that the happiest day of his life was when he married his wife of 51 years, Anne (Veitch). Anne and Rolly had three children, Ryan, Sara (Jordan) and Nicholas. Rolly was welcomed into the Veitch family with open arms and is survived by too many to name, but who he loved so much. Rolly leaves behind his little brother Vince, (Pat and Patrick) and his sister Annette, as he joins his mother Helga, sister Sonja (son Lucus) and his parents in law, JF and Louise.

Rolly was also lucky enough to have many wonderful friends, and the memories made with them made life great. Whether it was at the cottage with the Drolets or getting into trouble with Mike, dinners with the St. John Street gang, clinking glasses with the Czillis or laughing and singing with the Crouses; these lifelong friendships were so special to him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Malek and team, and Rolly's PSW, Stephanie for the compassionate care he received.

The kids would like to send endless gratitude to their Mom for her devotion to caring for their Dad that she committed to over the last eight years, leading to him being comfortable and knowing he was loved until the end.

A celebration of life will be held 4-6:30pm, October 29th, at Royals Restaurant in Richmond, ON.

Donations can be made in Rolly's memory to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County (www.dementiahelp.ca).
