Obituary for Howard Joseph Farrell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Howard Farrell. Howie passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022 with his family by his side at the Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 73. He fought a courageous battle against Hypersensitivity Pneumanitis (farmer’s lung) but it made it impossible for him to breath.

He was a loving husband, dad, popa and friend. He will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly 50 years, Judy (Ennis) Farrell, their four children; Lisa (Jeff) Drummond, Adam, Heather (Patty), Nathan (Amy) Farrell. Much loved Popa to Kaleb, Addison, Oliver, Lola, Declan, and Brantley Farrell, Isaac and Jordan Drummond. They will always remember his gentle nature and infectious smile.

Howie spent 40+ years of his life with Tay Valley Township (North Burgess Ward) and volunteered 30+ years with the BBD&E fire department. His heart was happiest when he was working on his farm tending to his cattle and making Farrell’s Finest maple syrup with his family and friends.

Predeceased by his father and mother, Bert and Margaret (Mackler), and brothers Billy and Jack. He will be missed by his sisters Mary (Truman) Cowan and Teresa (George) Donnelly. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, hunting buddies, Stanleyville community, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 21st, at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 38 Wilson St E Perth, ON at 11 o'clock am, followed by interment at St. Bridget's cemetery, Stanleyville. A reception to celebrate Howie's life will be held at the BVM Hall after interment. Everyone is welcome but Covid protocols will be followed; vaccines are required and masks are appreciated.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the medical staff at the Ottawa General Hospital, for the exceptional care and support given to Howie during his stays. Donations in his memory can be made to the Ottawa General Critical Care Unit or the Parkinson foundation.
