Obituary for Carol Mary Morris (Gibson)

Carol Mary (nee Gibson) Morris passed peacefully in her 88th year with family at her side on March 23, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Audrey (nee Wilkins) Gibson, and her younger brother George. Carol was the beloved wife of Joseph Morris, her husband of 64 years.

She will be dearly missed by her children; Jodie (George) Corcoran, Vicki Johnston, Cameron Morris, Paul Morris, and Gregg Morris. Carol was loved by her grandchildren Kristina (Murray) Jackson, Kurtis (Melissa) Johnston, Denise (Travis) Wing, Jasmine Morris, and was affectionately known as "G.G." to her nine great-grandchildren; Eloise, Charlotte, Emily, Isabelle, Liam, Molly, Wesley, Abby and Kate.

Born and raised in a large, close-knit extended family in Cobourg, Ontario, she made lasting friendships there which she maintained throughout her lifetime. Carol and Joseph lived in several cities across Canada from British Columbia to Labrador before settling in Athens, Ontario to raise their family. Carol will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to family, adventurous spirit and the joy she found traveling with family and friends. She was an active volunteer formally recognized by her community for many years of service.

Carol was grateful for the care and compassion of Dr. Stobo and the Athens District Family Health Team. Special thanks to the Community Palliative Care Team, Home and Community Care, Bayshore Nurses and Personal Support Workers, and Ontario Medical Supply for their exceptional support.

All are welcome to join the family for the interment on April 29th at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Anglican Church (Oak Leaf) Cemetery, 107 Holy Trinity Rd, Athens, followed by a celebration of Carol's life from 2p.m.-4p.m. in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Program or to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
