Obituary for Brenda Rebecca Buchanan (Fenlong)
It is with immense sadness that we have lost the heart of our family, our beloved Mom.
She passed away peacefully at Sherwood Park Manor LTC with her children by her side. Mom was 73 and had dementia.
Wife of the late Brian Buchanan and mother to 3 children; Stephanie Hudson (Mark), Jason Buchanan (Terry), and Brad Buchanan (Shelley).
Cherished "Nanny-Max" to Brody & Brayden Hudson, Brianna & Chase Buchanan, Natasha Buchanan-Reed, Bridgette Buchanan, and Ryan Buchanan.
She also leaves behind her sister, Shirley Kirkland (Glenn d.), brothers Howard Fenlong (Betty d.), and Jim Fenlong (Maureen d.). Also survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Buchanan (Darrell d.), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Predeceased by her parents Frederick & Helen (nee Scott) Fenlong, and her brother, David Fenlong.
Mom was a kind-hearted, hard-working, loving soul. Many would say when she retired from the BGH, "We just lost a hard-working individual". After our father passed in 1998, Mom moved to Brockville where she resided for 24 years.
Mom enjoyed making all types of cakes; all her nieces and nephews got their wedding cake made as their wedding gift. She also loved attending the Highland Games with her late brother, David. Her greatest joy was gathering with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mom showed us the meaning of unconditional love, unselfishness and devotion.
Our family would like to thank Sherwood Park Manor for all they did to make Mom's stay a pleasant one.
A Celebration of Life will be held for all to attend on Saturday, November 12th, 2022 in the Hall of St. John the Baptist Church, 37 Main St. E, Lyn, from 1-4 pm. Mom will then be interred beside our father on Monday, November 14th, 2022 at Roselawn Cemetery in Maitland, at 11 am.
